Popcorn Remakes

I then began to experiment with plaster, balloons and wire to emulate my own little clusters of popcorn. Because of the lack of toning between the popcorn and a white background I then began to experiment with splashing ink and adding some pops of colour. Here are some photographs and experimental graphics of the work.

Popcorn

Using objects such as cars to represent different arrays of thoughts or a certain mood within the head brought me to the idea of conveying these thoughts and moods but without using the face itself. That is when I began to experiment with popcorn. I found it an appropriate  subject matter to use because of the way it explodes and expands - like a frustrated mind. When a popcorn starts off as a kernel it is small and neat and a large amount can fit into a small space, but once it is heated the kernels flare up and overfill this space - a bit like my head when it's in overdrive. Also attempted to do a stop motion video which I did not include because the popcorn went flying everywhere with the lid off the saucepan, it left me with very little control and there was a mess to clean up, which again is similar to frustrated thoughts.
